In Japan, it is common for official documents to require the use of Japanese-era names, such as Showa or Heisei, rather than the Western calendar. This application provides a convenient way to compare the Western calendar with the Japanese calendar at a glance.

The app features a table that includes information on the Earthly Branches (Eto) corresponding to each year. Similar to the zodiac in Western culture, each Earthly Branch represents an animal associated with a particular year. Many Japanese individuals are aware of their zodiac animal linked to their birth year, making discussions about these animals a potential conversation starter, although this may vary by individual.

The age field indicates the user's age for the current year. Users can tap on any year to view their age progression from that year back to their birth year, allowing for insights such as the year they turned 20. Starting from version 2.1, the app also includes life events indigenous to Japanese culture, such as school enrollment and milestone celebrations, displayed in Japanese.

New feature since v2.0: Users can now long-tap a year, resulting in a random color change for that year, and they have the option to assign a name to it, which can be browsed as a list.

Tapping on the title bar allows users to change the current year temporarily. For example, by setting the current year to their birth year, users can determine their parents' ages at that time (provided they know their parents' birth years).

• Name editing is available by touching the name field on the AGE LIST screen.
• A database file can be exported from the upper-right menu, which will save as Download/agecal.db. Importing this database will overwrite any existing data with that from Download/agecal.db.
